وَٱلۡفَجۡرِ
By the dawn;

سورة 89
Translation: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلۡفَجۡرِ
By the dawn;

By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah)[1],

And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allâh).[2]

And by the night when it departs.
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)هَلۡ فِى ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌۭ لِّذِى حِجۡرٍ
There is indeed in them (the above oaths) sufficient proofs for men of understanding (and that, they should avoid all kinds of sins and disbeliefs)!

Saw you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) not how your Lord dealt with ‘Âd (people)

Of Iram (who were very tall) like (lofty) pillars,
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)ٱلَّتِى لَمۡ يُخۡلَقۡ مِثۡلُهَا فِى ٱلۡبِلَـٰدِ
The like of which were not created in the land?
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُوا۟ ٱلصَّخۡرَ بِٱلۡوَادِ
And (with) Thamûd (people), who hewed out rocks in the valley (to make dwellings)? [3]

And (with) Fir‘aun (Pharaoh) who had the stakes (to torture men by binding them to the stakes)?
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوۡا۟ فِى ٱلۡبِلَـٰدِ
Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands (in the disobedience of Allâh).
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)فَأَكۡثَرُوا۟ فِيهَا ٱلۡفَسَادَ
And made therein much mischief.
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)فَصَبَّ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّكَ سَوۡطَ عَذَابٍ
So your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment.

Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them).
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)فَأَمَّا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكۡرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكۡرَمَنِ
As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honour and bounties, then he says (in exultation): "My Lord has honoured me."
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيۡهِ رِزۡقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَـٰنَنِ
But when He tries him by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!"
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكۡرِمُونَ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ
Nay! But you treat not the orphans with kindness and generosity (i.e. you neither treat them well, nor give them their exact right of inheritance)!
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)وَلَا تَحَـٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ
And urge not one another on the feeding of Al-Miskîn (the poor)!
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)وَتَأۡكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكۡلًۭا لَّمًّۭا
And you devour the inheritance all with greed.
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡمَالَ حُبًّۭا جَمًّۭا
And you love wealth with much love.
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)كَلَّآ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ دَكًّۭا دَكًّۭا
Nay! When the earth is ground to powder.
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلۡمَلَكُ صَفًّۭا صَفًّۭا
And your Lord comes with the angels in rows.
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)وَجِا۟ىٓءَ يَوۡمَئِذٍۭ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوۡمَئِذٍۢ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ
And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance (then) avail him?
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)يَقُولُ يَـٰلَيۡتَنِى قَدَّمۡتُ لِحَيَاتِى
He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!"
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)فَيَوۡمَئِذٍۢ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌۭ
So on that Day none will punish as He will punish.

And none will bind (the wicked, disbelievers and polytheists) as He will bind.
Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan)يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفۡسُ ٱلۡمُطۡمَئِنَّةُ
(It will be said to the pious believers of Islamic Monotheism): "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction!

"Come back to your Lord well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing (unto Him)!

"Enter you then among My (honoured) slaves,

"And enter you My Paradise!"
